Bossa Nova Time...Again! BBR# 98, Featuring Maysa (No, not that one, the Brazilian one!) Airs today!

Here we are, doing our 98th (!) Bem Brasil Radio Show, and we have still barely scratched the surface of the almost infinite list of talent that Brazil has produced in the past few generations. To drive the point home, today's show will feature "the Janis Joplin of Bossa Nova", Maysa Matarazzo
Starting in music at a young age, her recording career began in 1956, at the beginning of the  Bossa nova movement with many interpretations of songs from the great Bossa composers of the day, such as Antonio Carlos JobimCarlos LyraRoberto MenescalVinicius de Moraes, and
Oscar Castro-Neves, as well as her own compositions, which were enveloped in a cradle of sophisticated musical arrangements by musical luminaries such as Eumir Deodato. Her career had its ups and downs, but she was a successful performer throughout, until her untimely death in a car crash at age 40 in 1977.

In the second hour, we will hear many other Bossa Nova and Samba Singers. Tune in from 6-8 in Studio 1A and don't forget to download the podcast!
