Our Afro-Brazilian Roots Are Showing! BBR #90, Featuring Clementina de Jesus Airs This Sunday!

Time to dig deep into our roots! To do that's we'll dedicate today's  Bem Brasil Radio to the solemn and joyful voice of Clementina de Jesus (1901-1987) Discovered a the age of 62, This daughter of former slaves' voice and songs are acknowledged as a link to Brazil's colonial African roots. In the first hour, we will hear the albums Gente da Antiga, With Pixinguinha (Featured in BBR #14) and João da Baiana, another very important musician of the early Samba generation. Then, we will hear the entire album  Canto dos Escravos, which also features Tia Doca e Geraldo Filme. To make our cup run over, we
ll hear Clementina singing with Milton Nascimento on his Milagre Dos Peixes album from 1974.

In the second hour, we will enjoy other great Afro-Brazilian Samba artists. Whether you tune in live or download the program (heck, why not do both?), This is a show you will not want to miss!
