Big Band Virtuosity: BBR #101, Featuring Orquestra Tabajara Airs Today!

Here it is, our 101st Show! We got a new logo (check below!) and a new job at the station, but BBR's winning formula will never change: All the great music we can pack into two hours!

For this show, we will dedicate our first hour to a real Brazilian institution: The Orquestra Tabajara!

Founded in 1934 in the state of Paraiba, the band relocated to Rio de Janeiro in 1945 and has been based there since. In the following decades, the band was hired by many major Television and Radio stations and solo artists for musical support. The band also released several recordings under its own name. We'll hear some of those today!

Nothing less than Jorge Ben's  second live album, the extremely rare Jorge Ben à l'Olympia! Recorded at the legendary Olympia Music Hall in Paris, this album's tight and upbeat set helped make Jorge Ben (Now known as Jorge Benjor) a household name in Europe!
