Starting in music at a young age, her recording career began in 1956, at the beginning of the Bossa nova movement with many interpretations of songs from the great Bossa composers of the day, such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Carlos Lyra, Roberto Menescal, Vinicius de Moraes, and
Oscar Castro-Neves, as well as her own compositions, which were enveloped in a cradle of sophisticated musical arrangements by musical luminaries such as Eumir Deodato. Her career had its ups and downs, but she was a successful performer throughout, until her untimely death in a car crash at age 40 in 1977.
