Sergio Mendes fits the bill on two accounts: From his early days as a sideman to Cannonball Adderley to his massive success as a solo artist with Brasil '66, Mendes' albums helped to not only bring a whole new generation of Brazilian artists into the spotlight, they also provided a place where non-brazilian artists could bring a little of Brazil into their groove, including the Black Eyed Peas!
